‘Inheritance by Daughters’, 2022 (Arunachala Gounder (Deceased) vs. Ponnusamy)
In a landmark judgment, the Supreme Court said a Hindu daughter has the right to inherit self-acquired property or portion obtained in the division of a coparcenary property of her Hindu father dying intestate.
The Court stated that this principle is recognised not only in customary Hindu law but also through various judicial pronouncements of court.
