State Energy and Climate Index, 2022

On 11th April, 2022 NITI Aayog released-State Energy and Climate Index (SECI), also is the first index which aims to track the efforts made by States and UTs in the climate and energy sector.

  • The parameters have been devised keeping in mind India’s goals for climate change and clean energy transition.

Parameters: There are six parameters on which States and UTs are going to be ranked:

  1. Discoms’ Performance;
  2. Access, Affordability and Reliability of Energy;
  3. Clean Energy Initiatives;
  4. Energy Efficiency Environmental Sustainability; and
  5. New Initiatives.

Ranking Categories: A total of 27 indicators that categorizes States/UTs into three groups- ‘Front Runners’; ‘Achievers’, and ‘Aspirants’.
