Development and Welfare Board for Denotified, Nomadic and Semi-Nomadic Tribes.

  • The Board was setup in June, 2019 as per notification of the government. The board was formed as per the recommendation of National Commission for Denotified, Nomadic and Semi-Nomadic Tribes (NCDNT), which was setup in 2014 to prepare a state-wise list of castes belonging to Denotified and Nomadic tribes.
  • These are communities which are often left out of accruing the benefits of welfare policies, as most of them are not included in SCs, STs and OBCs.

Conclusion

Challenges faced by these communities (Old aged, drug abused, disabled) cannot be easily empathize with, and hence people from these sections, if possible must be included in policy making. Policy measures centered around changing mindsets, making infrastructures friendly and ensuring universal social security must be framed. These policies must have quantifiable targets and proper performance audit must be performed to ensure its effectiveness.
