Idate Commission

It was setup in 2015 to look into the problems faced by Denotified, Nomadic and Semi-Nomadic communities and also to further study Renke’s recommendations and suggest measures to overcome the issues faced by these communities. It submitted its report in 2018.

Important Recommendations

• It called Denotified, Nomadic and Semi-Nomadic communities poorest of the poor, most marginalized and most downtrodden communities who are subject to social stigma and atrocities.
• It called for legal protection for the Denotified, Nomadic and Semi-Nomadic communities.
• It called for creating a separate third schedule for Denotified, Nomadic and Semi-Nomadic communities (On lines of SC/ST), etc.
• The Commission’s recommendations were taken into consideration and Development and Welfare Board for Denotified, Nomadic and Semi-Nomadic communities was created in 2019.
