Missions and Project Related Activities

Indian Space Research Organisation (ISRO) successfully accomplished six launch vehicle missions and seven satellite missions during the year 2019. Fifty foreign satellites from seven countries were launched on commercial basis during this period.

Some of the notable developments are as follows:

Microsat-R and Kalamsat-V2: PSLV-C44 successfully launched imaging satellite Microsat-R and student satellite Kalamsat-V2.

GSAT-31: Communication satellite GSAT-31 was successfully launched from Kourou launch base, French Guiana by Ariane-5 VA-247.

EMISAT: PSLV-C45 successfully launched EMISAT, a satellite intended for electromagnetic spectrum measurement.

RISAT-2B: The Radar Imaging Earth Observation Satellite, RISAT-2B, was successfully launched onboard PSLV-C46.

Chandrayaan-2: Representing a significant technological leap compared to the previous missions of ISRO, Geosynchronous Satellite Launch Vehicle, GSLV MkIII-M1, successfully injected Chandrayaan-2, the orbiter spacecraft of India’s second Lunar Mission, in to Earth Parking Orbit. This launch vehicle is capable of launching four tonnes of satellites into Geosynchronous Transfer Orbit (GTO).

Cartosat-3: PSLV-C47 successfully launched Cartosat-3, a third generation agile advanced satellite having high resolution imaging capability.

PSLV-C48: PSLV-C48 successfully launched RISAT-2BR1, a radar imaging earth observation satellite.
