Sustainable Development Goals

In 2015, world leaders agreed to 17 goals for a better world by 2030. These goals have the power to end poverty, fight inequality and stop climate change. Guided by the goals, it is now up to governments, businesses, civil society and the general public to work together to build a better future for everyone.

  • The 17 Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) – part of a wider 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development – built on the Millennium Development Goals (MDGs). Eight goals of MDGs were set by the United Nations, back in 2000 to eradicate poverty, hunger, illiteracy and disease, expired at the end of 2015.
  • The Sustainable Development Goals are the blueprint to achieve a better and more sustainable future for all. They address the global challenges we face, including those related to poverty, inequality, climate, environmental degradation, prosperity, and peace and justice.
