World Justice Project (WJP) Rule of Law Index

WJP Rule of Law Index is prepared by WJPs research team. It measures and ranks countries on the basis of experience and perception, the general public have about the Rule of Law in the Country.

  • It ranks 126 countries from data derived by surveying more than 120000 households and 3800 expert groups.
  • Rule of Law Index measures countries’ rule of law performance across eight factors (and 44 sub-factors) - Constraints on Government Powers; Absence of Corruption; Open Government; Fundamental Rights; Order and Security; Regulatory Enforcement; Civil Justice; and Criminal Justice.
  • As per WJPs Rule of Law Index, 2019, India was ranked 68th/126 countries. Top five countries were – Denmark, Norway, Finland, Sweden and Netherlands.
