6th Summit of Conference on Interaction and Confidence Building Measures in Asia

Recently, the 6th Summit of Conference on Interaction and Confidence Building Measures in Asia (CICA) was held in Astana, Kazakhstan. India's Minister of State for External Affairs participated in the summit.

  • The Forum: CICA is an intergovernmental forum aimed at strengthening regional cooperation and ensuring peace, security, and stability in Asia.
  • Origin: Kazakhstan’s first President Nursultan Nazarbayev first gave the idea of creating the organization in 1992 at the 47th session of the United Nations General Assembly (UNGA).
  • Members: To be a member of CICA, a state must have at least a part of its territory in Asia. Current CICA members include 27 Asian countries, nine observer states and five international organizations.
  • CICA Secretariat: The CICA Secretariat is located in Almaty, Kazakhstan.
