First Country Report on Status of Disability in India (2015)

India is a signatory of UN Convention on Rights of Persons with Disabilities (PwDs). As per Article 35 of the Convention, every country must submit a comprehensive report, from time to time, to enlist the measures taken for the redressal of issues with PwDs. First Country Report lists down the initiatives taken, concerns and opportunities in the field of disability.

• In 2015 report, it listed down policy initiatives like Mental Health Act, 2013; Railway Concessions to PwDs; Academic assistance in universities like IGNOU; various schemes like Polio Eradication Program, Leprosy Eradication Program, etc.
