It was launched in 2017 with the objective of providing short term job oriented skill development courses to minority youths to enable them for skill based employment. It has been renamed as Garib Nawaz Employment Scheme form the year 2019-20.
As per recent stats (2019), out of allocated target of 106600 beneficiaries, 77000 in 82 PIAs (Project Implementing Agencies) beneficiaries have been assigned.
