Key Findings: Third-party attacks are on the rise. In the last several years, third party attacks have increased from 44% to 61%

  • Growth in network connectivity has resulted in increasing the size of the cyberattack surface, thereby making organizations more vulnerable to compromise.
  • As of 2020, 55% of Small and Medium Enterprises have experienced a cyberattack. Ransomware attacks saw a significant increase in the first six months of 2021, with global attack volume increasing by 151%.
  • The United States Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) has warned that there are now 100 different strains of ransomware in circulation globally. There were on average, 270 attacks per organization in 2021, a 31% increase over 2020.
  • 59% of all respondents would find it challenging to respond to a cybersecurity incident due to the shortage of skills within their team
  • According to 59% of the Cyber leaders, Cyber resilience and Cybersecurity are synonymous with the differences not well understood.
