GM Mustard DMH-11

Field trials of the transgenic mustard variety, DMH-11, revealed to be higher yielding and even they didn’t deter the pollination habits of honey bees.

  • The Genetic Engineering Appraisal Committee (GEAC) has recommended the environmental release of the genetically modified (GM) mustard variety DMH (Dhara Mustard Hybrid)-11, paving the way for the commercialisation of the country’s first GM food crop.

Benefits: The introduction of GM mustard hybrid is expected to result in increased yield of 25% in mustard crop helping achieve domestic oilseed production of 17 million tonnes.
