India-Bangladesh Trade Relations @50

The year 2021 marked the golden jubilee (50 years) of 1971 India-Pakistan war that led to the liberation of Bangladesh.

Trade Partner: Bangladesh is India’s biggest trade partner in South Asia and India is the second biggest trade partner of Bangladesh.

Exports: The exports of Bangladesh have tripled over the last decade to cross $1 bn in 2018-19. In the FY 2019-20, India’s exports to Bangladesh were $8.2 bn and imports were $1.26 bn.

India’s Import: Indian imports from Bangladesh include textile fibres, mineral fuels, salt, cement, paper yarn, fish, readymade apparel etc.

Indian Export: Major Indian exports to Bangladesh includes rice, sugar, pulse and onion engineering goods, chemical and pharmaceuticals, accessories, cotton, sugar, fruits, onions, cereals, and vehicles, etc.
