Madhukar Gupta Committee

The Ministry of Home affairs had constituted a High Level committee in 2017 to suggest ways to tighten security along Pakistan Border under the chairmanship of Madhukar Gupta.

Key Recommendations: The committee has examined security mechanisms of all four Indian states sharing border with Pakistan keeping in mind challenges of different climate and topography.

• Thus, has given separate recommendations for four states as each of them has different topography and problems.
• Use of scientific technology such as laser fencing along with increased vigil along riverine border areas.
• Simultaneously, use of ground sensors and thermal imaging where physical fencing are not feasible.
