PM Council on Climate Change

It was established in 2008 and was re-constituted in 2014. It consists of 18 members, which also includes Minister for External Affairs, Finance Minister, Minister for Environment, Forests and Climate Change, Minister for Water Resources, River Development and Ganga Rejuvenation, Minister for Agriculture, Minister for Urban Affairs, Minister for Science and Technology and Ministers of State for Power, Coal and New and Renewable Energy.

Main Functions: Evolve a coordinated response to issues relating to climate change at the national level.

  • Provide oversight for formulation of action plans in the area of assessment, adaptation and mitigation of climate change
  • Periodically monitor key policy decisions.
