  • The first edition of Austra Hind – an Army exercise was held at Mahajan Field Firing Ranges, Rajasthan from 28 November-11 December 2022. The exercise will be a yearly event conducted alternatively in India and Australia.

EX Bongosagar

  • The third edition of Indian Navy (IN) – Bangladesh Navy (BN) Bilateral Exercise ‘Bongosagar’ was carried out at Port Mongla, Bangladesh.

Cyclone - I

India-Egypt

  • It was the first ever joint exercise between the special forces of the Indian Army and the Egyptian Army held at Jaisalmer in Rajasthan from 14-27 January 2023.

Exercise Varuna

India-France

  • The 21st edition of the Bilateral Naval Exercise between India and France held on the Western Seaboard from 16-20 January 2023.

VARUNA – 2022

India-France

  • The 20th edition of the Bilateral Naval Exercise between Indian and French Navies – ‘VARUNA’ was conducted in the Arabian Sea from 30 Mar – 03 April 2022.

Garuda-VII

India-France

  • Indian Air Force (IAF) and French Air and Space Force (FASF) carried out bilateral exercise Garuda-VII at Air Force Station Jodhpur from 26 October to 12 November 2022. ‘Varuna’ is an annual naval exercise between India and France and ‘Shakti’ is a biennial military exercise between the two.

India-Indonesia

  • Indian Army Special Forces and Indonesian Special Forces participated in the eighth edition of the bilateral military exercise ‘Garuda Shakti’ at Karawang, Indonesia.

Veer Guardian 2023

India-Japan

  • It was the inaugural edition of the bilateral air exercise between the Indian Air Force (IAF) and Japan Air Self Defence Force (JASDF) concluded in Japan on 26 January 2023.

“EX DHARMA GUARDIAN-2022”

India-Japan

  • Annual joint military exercise, “EX DHARMA GUARDIAN-2022”, between India and Japan was conducted at Foreign Training Node, Belagavi (Belgaum, Karnataka) from 27 February 2022 to 10 March 2022.

JIMEX 22

India-Japan

  • The sixth edition of Japan-India Maritime Exercise 2022 (JIMEX 22) hosted by the Indian Navy in the Bay of Bengal.

Ex Kazind – 2022

India- Kazakhstan

  • The 6th Edition of Indo - Kazakhstan joint training exercise “KAZIND-22” was conducted at Umroi (Meghalaya) from 15 to 28 December 2022.This joint annual training exercise with the Kazakhstan Army was instituted in 2016 as Exercise Prabal Dostyk, which was later upgraded to a company level exercise and renamed as Ex Kazind.

Harimau Shakti 2022

  • The military exercise was held at Pulai, Kluang, Malaysia from 28th November to 12th December 2022.

'Udarashakti'

India-Malaysia

  • Hosted by Malaysia, 'Udarashakti' is the first bilateral exercise between Indian Air Force (IAF) and Royal Malaysian Air Force (RMAF).

Exercise Surya Kiran

India-Nepal

  • The 16th Edition of Indo-Nepal joint training Exercise “SURYA KIRAN-XVI” between India and Nepal was conducted at Nepal Army Battle School, Saljhandi (Nepal), from 16 - 29 December 2022. Exercise “SURYA KIRAN” is conducted annually between India and Nepal with the aim to enhance interoperability in jungle warfare & counter terrorism.

  • From February 21 to 25, 2022, the Indian Air Force (IAF) and Royal Air Force of Oman (RAFO) conducted a bilateral air exercise – ‘Eastern Bridge-VI’. It was carried out at Air Force Station Jodhpur, Rajasthan.

Naseem-Al-Bahr

India-Oman

  • The 13th Edition of the Indian Navy (IN) - Royal Navy of Oman (RNO) bilateral exercise ‘Naseem Al Bahr’ (Sea Breeze) was conducted from 19 to 24 Nov 2022 off the coast of Oman.

AL NAJAH-IV

India-Oman

  • India and Oman carried out the military exercise 'AL NAJAH-IV' at the Mahajan field firing ranges in Rajasthan.

Agni Warrior

India-Singapore

  • The 12th edition of the Army exercise was held at Field Firing Ranges, Devlali (Maharashtra) from 13-30 November 2022.

Malabar 2022

India, the U.S., Japan and Australia

  • The 26th edition of the multinational maritime exercise "MALABAR 22" among the navies of India, the U.S., Japan and Australia was held from 8-15 November 2022 in the seas off Japan.

  • The first edition of India-Mozambique-Tanzania Trilateral Exercise (IMT TRILAT), a joint maritime exercise among the Indian, Mozambique and Tanzanian navies was held at Dar Es Salaam, Tanzania from 27-29 October 2022.

  • The 11th edition of the annual Joint Military Training (JMT) between the Indian Air Force (lAF) and the Republic of Singapore Air Force (RSAF) held at Air Force Station, Kalaikunda.

‘Simbex’ - 2022

India-Singapore

  • The Indian Navy hosted the 29th edition of the Singapore-India Maritime Bilateral Exercise (SIMBEX) from 26 to 30 October, 2022 at Visakhapatnam.

SLINEX

  • The ninth edition of Sri Lanka-India Naval Exercise SLINEX was held in Visakhapatnam.

  • The 13th Edition of India – USA Joint Special Forces Exercise ‘Vajra Prahar 2022’ was held at Bakloh (Himachal Pradesh).

  • The 18th edition army training exercise was held in Auli, Uttarakhand.

EX DUSTLIK

India-Uzbekistan

  • The 3rd edition of Indo-Uzbekistan Joint Field Training Exercise “EX DUSTLIK” concluded at Yangiarik, Uzbekistan on 29 March 2022.The joint exercise provided an opportunity for both the contingents to train in Counter Terrorism operations in a semi-urban environment.

  • The 3rd edition of Vietnam-India bilateral army exercise "Vinbax 2022” was held at Chandimandir, Haryana.

IONS Maritime Exercise 2022

Multilateral

  • The maiden edition of Indian Ocean Naval Symposium (IONS) Maritime Exercise 2022 (IMEX-22) was conducted at Goa and in Arabian Sea from 26 – 30 March 22.The aim of the exercise was to enhance interoperability in Humanitarian Assistance and Disaster Relief (HADR) operations among member navies.

Ex ‘Pitch Black’

  • The Indian Air Force (IAF) joined 16 other nations, including Quad partner countries, from 19th August to 6th September 2022 for Exercise Pitch Black, the biennial exercise hosted by the Royal Australian Air Force.

Exercise MILAN-2022

Multilateral

  • Indian Navy’s multilateral biennial exercise MILAN 2022 was held from 25 Feb 2022 in the ‘City of Destiny’, Visakhapatnam. MILAN 22 was conducted over 9 days in two phases with the Harbour Phase from 25 to 28 February and Sea Phase from 1-4 March 2022.

  • The 2022 edition of the world's largest naval war games (biennial), the Rim of the Pacific (RIMPAC) exercises, featured key US partners from around the globe, including India, Japan and Australia -- who have joined Washington in the Quad group -- and five nations bordering on the South China Sea.

Ex Kakadu

Multilateral

  • Biennial multinational naval exercise Ex Kakadu was hosted by the Royal Australian Navy. The two-week-long Exercise, both in harbour and sea, involved ships and maritime aircraft from 14 Navies. India participated in the exercise with INS Satpura and P8I Maritime Patrol Aircraft.

Vostok 2022

Multilateral

  • From September 1-7, 2022 Russia held annual military exercise ‘Vostok 2022’ in its eastern region, with about 13 countries including India and China. Though Indian Army participated in land exercises, it skipped the maritime section of the two-part event. This is because it involved the disputed islands of South Kuril, claimed by Japan.

Operation Southern Readiness

  • INS Sunayna participated in the capacity building exercise Operation Southern Readiness conducted by Combined Maritime Forces (CMF) at Seychelles from 24-27 Sep 2022. This is the maiden participation of an Indian Navy ship in CMF exercise.

Sea Dragon-22

Multilateral

  • Sea Dragon is an annual, multi-national high-end exercise hosted by the U.S. Navy. In 2022, naval forces from the U.S., India, Japan, Canada, Australia and South Korea took part in the event at Guam - a strategic U.S. naval base. Sea Dragon-22 was primarily centered on Anti-Submarine Warfare training.

Paschim Lehar 2022

India

  • A joint maritime exercise Paschim Lehar (XPL-2022) was conducted by the Indian Navy off the West Coast with an objective to validate operational plans of the Western Naval Command and enhance Inter-Service synergy among the Indian Navy, IAF, Indian Army and Coast Guard.

Exercise Vayu Shakti 2022

India

  • Indian Air Force (IAF) conducted exercise ‘Vayu Shakti’ at Pokharan range in Jaisalmer, Rajasthan on March 7, 2022. The IAF conducts Exercise Vayu Shakti at Pokhran range every three years.

“Operation Sard Hawa”

India

  • The ‘Border Security Force’ carried out “Operation Sard Hawa” to bolster its surveillance along the Pakistan border in Rajasthan from January 23 to 28, 2022. The exercise is done every year to check the instances of infiltration due to the dense fog cover in the region and increase security.

SAREX-2022

India

  • The Indian Coast Guard (ICG) conducted the 10th National Maritime Search and Rescue Exercise SAREX-22 in Chennai.

‘Ex Skylight’

India

  • Exercise Skylight was recently carried out by the Indian Army to test its satellite communication systems in the event of an attack by an enemy.

AMPHEX 23

India

  • The largest biennial Tri-Services amphibious exercise – AMPHEX 2023 – involving the Indian Army, Indian Air Force (IAF), and the Indian Navy, was conducted near Kakinada in Andhra Pradesh from January 17 to January 22.

“Ops Alert”

India

  • The Border Security Force (BSF) had carried out this vigil exercise (from 21 January to 28 January 2023) with an aim to enhance security along the International Border (IB) with Pakistan in Kutch district of Gujarat and Barmer in Rajasthan in view of the Republic Day celebrations.

Exercise Pralay

India

  • The Indian Air Force carried out Exercise Pralay involving all its major air bases in the northeast including the recently moved drone squadrons in the northeast amid the ongoing standoff with China. This is the second such command-level exercise carried out by the IAF in recent months.

TROPEX

India

  • The biennial Theatre Level Operational Readiness Exercise (TROPEX) is aimed at "validating and refining" the Navy's concept of "operations" as well as to test overall combat capabilities. It is being conducted over a duration of three months from January to March and assets of the Indian Army, the Indian Air Force and the Indian Coast Guard are being deployed for the mega drills.

  • The Indian Air Force (IAF)’s Eastern Air Command conducted its annual exercise, Poorvi Akash, in the northeastern part of the country during the first week of February.

Ex Kripan Shakti

India

  • In a show of jointmanship, the Army, Border Security Force (BSF), Sashastra Seema Bal (SSB) and the civil administration participated in Ex Kripan Shakti, conducted by the Army’s Trishakti Corps at the Teesta Field Firing Firing Ranges (TFFR) near Siliguri in West Bengal.This was an Integrated Fire Power Exercise.

Trishakti Prahar

  • This was a joint training exercise in North Bengal to practice battle preparedness of the security forces, using latest weapons and equipment in a networked, integrated environment, involving the Army, the Indian Air Force and CAPFs.

  • It is an annual firepower demonstration and training exercise of yhe Indian Army which was conducted recently at the School of Artillery in Devlali, Nasik.
