World Investment Report is published by the United Nations Conference on Trade and Development (UNCTAD).

Key Findings: India Specific: India was ranked at 7th rank among the top 20 host economies for 2021, in terms of FDI.

  • The United States ($367 billion) remained the top recipient of FDI while China ($181 billion) and Hong Kong ($141 billion) also retained second and third position respectively.
  • India received USD 64 billion in FDI in 2020, and recorded a decline in FDI inflows in 2021 at USD 45 billion
  • Outward FDI from South Asia, mainly from India, rose by 43 per cent to USD 16 billion.
