In the plea filed against Delhi's Shaheen Bagh protests over the Citizenship Amendment Act, 2019, the Supreme Court held that public spaces cannot be occupied indefinitely. Further, democracy and dissent go hand in hand, but demonstrations expressing dissent have to be in designated places alone.
