Integrated Power Development Scheme (For Urban Areas)

Government of India on 18th September, 2015 formally launched the nationwide Integrated Power Development Scheme (IPDS) from Varanasi in Uttar Pradesh. IPDS was launched with the objective of -

  • Strengthening of sub-transmission and distribution networks in the urban areas.
  • Metering of distribution transformers / feeders / consumers in the urban areas.
  • IT enablement of distribution sector and strengthening of distribution network under Restructured Accelerated Power Development and Reforms Programme (R-APDRP).
  • Power Finance Corporation (PFC) is the Nodal agency for implementation of “Integrated Power Development Scheme (IPDS)” (R-APDRP subsumed).
  • The IPDS cover works relating to strengthening sub-transmission and distribution system, including provisioning of solar panels, metering of distribution transformers/feeders/consumer in urban areas and IT enablement of distribution sector.
