Gender Based Violence (GBV) is a global health, human rights and development issue that transcends geography, class, culture, age, race and religion to affect every community and country in every corner of the world.
To counter gender violence, One Stop Centre Scheme was launched in 2015. The scheme aims to facilitate access to an integrated range of services including medical aid, police assistance, legal aid/case management, psychosocial counseling, and temporary support services to women affected by violence.
Under the scheme, it has been envisaged that One Stop Centers would be set up across the country in phased manner. As of December 2019, a total of 718 OSCs have been established.
The issues this scheme face is of poor infrastructure (no CCTVs, beds etc.), lack of awareness about its existence, reports of delay and unresponsive attitude of personnel’s etc.
