Acharya Prafulla Chandra Ray

Recently, the Ministry of Culture along with Department of Chemistry, University of Delhi and Vijnana Bharati (VIBHA) organised a curtain raiser for two days International Conference on the “Contributions of Acharya Prafulla Chandra Ray as a Chemist and Freedom Fighter”.

About Acharya Prafulla Chandra Ray: Known as “Father of Indian Chemistry”, Prafulla Chandra Ray was a well-known Indian scientist and teacher and one of the first “modern” Indian chemical researchers. In 1920, he was elected General President of the Indian Science Congress.

  • The British Government first honored him with the imperial title of CIE (Companion of the Indian Empire).
