Mission LiFE

Recently, India's Prime Minister along with the Secretary General of the United Nations launched Mission LiFE at the Statue of Unity in Gujarat. It is a new initiative for sustainable and healthy lifestyle.

• Listing climate change and global warming as the main challenges before the world and mankind, the Prime Minister underlined that Mission LiFE makes the fight against climate change democratic with the contribution of everyone in per own capacity.

Concept of LiFE: LiFE stands for Lifestyle for Environment.

• Introduction: The concept of LiFE was introduced by the Prime Minister at COP26 in Glasgow on 1^st November, 2021.
• Pro Planet People: The Mission incorporates the spirit of the P3 model, i.e., Pro Planet People, as it is premised on the basic principles of ‘Lifestyle of the planet, for the planet and by the planet’.
• Environmentally Conscious Lifestyle: The idea promotes an environmentally conscious lifestyle that focuses on ‘mindful and deliberate utilization’ instead of ‘mindless and wasteful consumption’.
• Circular Economy: It advocates for the circular economy where the concept of ‘Reduce, Reuse and Recycle’ can help in striking a balance between development, economic growth, and sustainability.
