PM Virasat ka Samvardhan

Recently, the government revamped the Pradhan Mantri Kaushal Ko Kaam Karyakram (PMKKK) as Pradhan Mantri Virasat Ka Samvardhan (PM VIKAS) Scheme.

• The integrated scheme converges five erstwhile schemes of the Ministry viz. Seekho aur Kamao, USTTAD, Hamari Dharohar, Nai Roshni and Nai Manzil.
• The scheme is being implemented from April 2022.
• PM VIKAS is aligned to the 15th Finance Commission cycle period up to 2025-26.

Aim: To improve livelihoods of the minorities, particularly the artisan communities, using the components of skill development, education, women leadership & entrepreneurship.

Implementation: The scheme is intended to be implemented in convergence with the ‘Skill India Mission’ of Ministry of Skill Development & Entrepreneurship and through integration with the Skill India Portal (SIP).

Impact: Greater Market Access: It will facilitate greater market access by enabling participation of artisans in existing local fairs and events.

• Preserving Heritage of Indian Arts and Crafts: Further, it will help to generate means to create better livelihood opportunities, assist in establishing linkages with domestic and global markets, facilitate credit linkages and self-employment, as well as to preserve and enrich heritage of Indian arts and crafts.
