UNFPA-UNICEF Global Programme to End Child Marriage

It has been implemented since 2016 across 12 countries in Africa, the Middle East and South Asia.

  • The programme has surpassed most of its output targets, reaching millions of people in the 12 countries with interventions designed to end child marriage, continuously extended its reach to larger populations of adolescent girls and community members.
  • These country profiles highlight key achievements from the first phase of the programme (2016-2019) in Bangladesh, Burkina Faso, Ethiopia, Ghana, India, Mozambique, Nepal, Niger, Sierra Leone, Uganda, Yemen and Zambia, as well as recent trends in child marriage prevalence and next steps for the Global Programme as we move into Phase II (2020-2023).
