Cabinet approves Surrogacy (Regulation) Bill, 2020
On 26th February, the Union Cabinet approved the Surrogacy (Regulation) Bill, 2020, allowing a “willing” woman to be a surrogate mother besides other provisions after incorporating all the 15 recommendations of 23-member Rajya Sabha Select Committee.
Surrogacy (Regulation Bill) 2020
- It allows any “willing” woman to be a surrogate mother and proposes that Indian single women (only widows or divorcees between the age of 35 and 45 years) can also benefit from its provisions, besides infertile Indian couples.
- It deleted the definition of “infertility” as the inability to conceive after five years of unprotected intercourse. Thus, it waived off the need ....
