Parrotfish Threatened in Andaman
- A new study has suggested that protection of coral cover along the existing protected marine areas in the Andaman and Nicobar Islands is necessary for the conservation of the endangered bumphead parrotfish.
Economic Importance
- Commercial significance: A commercial fishery exists for some of the larger species, particularly in the Indo-Pacific, but also for a few others like the Mediterranean parrotfish.
