Remission of Duties and Taxes on Exported Products Scheme
On 13th March, 2020, the Cabinet Committee on Economic Affairs gave its approval for introducing the Scheme for Remission of Duties and Taxes on Exported Products (RoDTEP).
- The scheme which will gradually replace the existing Merchandise Exports from India Scheme (MEIS) is compatible with World Trade Organization (WTO) rules and aims to boost the country’s dwindling outbound shipments
Key Highlights
- Applicability: Textiles and all other sectors which currently enjoy incentives up to 2% over MEIS will transit into RoDTEP.
- Reimbursement Mechanism: A mechanism would be created for reimbursement of taxes/ duties/ levies, at the central, state and local level, which are currently ....
