SAROD-Ports: Dispute Resolution Mechanism for Maritime Sector
- On 10th September, 2020, the Union Ministry of Shipping launched dispute redressal mechanism-SAROD (Society for Affordable Redressal of Disputes)-Ports, to facilitate affordable and timely resolution of disputes for the maritime sector.
- In January, 2018, the government approved amendments in the Model Concession Agreement (MCA).The amendments in the MCA, envisaged constitution of SAROD-PORTS as dispute resolution mechanism for PPP Projects in the Major Ports.
About SAROD-Ports
- It is established under Societies Registration Act, 1860 with the following objectives:
- Affordable and timely resolution of disputes in fair manner
- Enrichment of Dispute Resolution Mechanism with the panel of technical experts as arbitrators
