Rotavirus Vaccine expanded to Entire County
- Under the 100-days agenda of the newly elected government, Ministry of Health has decided to provide Rotavirus vaccine, (Rotavac), which wasintroduced in Universal Immunisation Programme in March 2016 on pilot basis, to every child across all 36 states and UTs by September, 2019.
- It aims to end morbidity and mortality in children due to diarrhoea by 2022.
- Rotavirus is a leading cause of diarrhoea in children less than five years of age and is estimated to cause about 78,000 deaths annually in India.
