Kisan Rail
- On 7th August, 2020, the Railways began the first Kisan Rail train service from Devlali in Maharashtra to Danapur in Bihar.
- The announcement regarding the "Kisan Rail" was made in the current year's Budget.
- Indian Railways aims to help double farmers’ income with the launch of Kisan Rail.
Key Features
- It is aimed at seamless supply chain of perishable farm produce.
- The scheduled halts will be at Nasik Road, Manmad, Jalgaon, Bhusaval, Burhanpur, Khandwa, Itarsi, Jabalpur, Satna, Katni, Manikpur, PrayagrajChheoki, Deendayal Upadhyay Nagar and Buxar.
- It will primarily cover regions that produce huge quantities of vegetables, fruits, flowers and other perishable items.
