Hundred Years of Treaty of Versailles: Fractured Peace
The Treaty of Versailles was signed on June 28, 1919 between Allied Powers and Germany, at the end of World War I. The year 2019 marks the completion of hundred years of signing of the treaty.
Terms of the Treaty
- Germany had to lose territory in Europe:
- Alsace-Lorraine to France
- West Prussia and Posen to Poland
- Saar region was to be administered by the League of Nations for 15 years, when the population would be allowed to vote on whether it should belong to France or Germany. In the meantime, France was allowed to use its coal mines.
