About Earth Day
- Around the end of March, the World Wildlife Fund (WWF) organises a one-hour lights out event (8:30 - 9:30 p.m.) around the world.
- It encourages individuals, houses, communities, and businesses to turn off non-essential lights for one hour as a demonstration of their dedication to the environment. It began as a light out event in Sydney, Australia in 2007 and has now grown to 185 nations.
