Scientists Detect New Fast Radio Burst
Recently, astronomers reported a fast radio burst (FRB) whose characteristics are different from almost all other FRBs previously detected, except one.It has been named FRB 20190520B.
- The FRB was detected following scientists’ observation of a radio signal coming from a galaxy believed to be nearly 3 billion light-years away. The detection raises more questions about the origin and source of these signals.
About FRBs
- These are intense but brief flashes of radio frequency emissions and these typically last milliseconds. These are known to send out repeat radio waves multiple times. Their origins are unknown, and their appearance is unpredictable.
