The three-day Raja festival was observed recently in Odisha with fervor and gaiety from 14-16 June.
About Raja Parba
- Raja Parba is Odisha’s three-day unique festival celebrating the onset of monsoon and the earth’s womanhood.
- It is believed that during this time the Mother Earth or Bhudevi undergoes menstruation.
- During this period all agricultural operations remain suspended as a mark of respect towards the Earth.
Three Days of Celebration
- First day of the festival is called “Pahili Raja” which marks the beginning of the festival in which people do all types of preparations for the festival.
- Second day is called “Raja/Mithuna Sankranti” ....
