IUCN Upgrades Iberian Lynx's Conservation Status
On 20th June, 2024, the International Union for Conservation of Nature (IUCN) upgraded the conservation status of Iberian Lynx (Lynx pardinus) from 'Endangered' to 'Vulnerable', marking a remarkable conservation success story.

- Population Recovery: From a perilous low of 94 individuals at the turn of the century, the lynx population has rebounded significantly to 648 mature individuals by 2022, with a total estimated population exceeding 2,000 today.
- Conservation Efforts: Efforts focused on increasing the prey base of the lynx, primarily the Endangered European rabbit, and restoring critical Mediterranean scrub and forest habitats.
