Recently, Srimukhalingam temple’s chief priest urged Archaeological Survey of India for the inclusion of the temple in the UNESCO’S world heritage structures’ list to get special recognition and funds for the temple.
About the Temple
- Srimukhalingam temple is located at Jalumuru mandal of Srikakulam district of Andhra Pardesh.
- It is located by the Vamsadhara River.
- The Eastern Ganga king Kamaranaba Deva-II constructed the temple in the 11th century, which reflects both Kalinga and Dravidian architectures.
- It is famously known as Dakshina Kashi (the Varanasi of South India).
