400 Million Dreams
On 2nd December, 2024, a working paper titled’400 Million Dreams’ was released by the Economic Advisory Council to the Prime Minister (EAC-PM) highlighting the changing patterns of migration in India since the 2011 Census.
Key Findings
Decreasing Domestic Migration Rate
- According to the report, India's domestic migration rate has decreased, with the total number of migrants falling from 45.57 crore in 2011 to 40.20 crore in 2023, an 11.78% decrease.
- In 2023, the migration rate is 28.88%, down from 37.64% in 2011.
