Core Philosophy of Budget 2026-27

The Budget is built on three "Kartavyas" (Duties):

  1. Accelerating growth and resilience
  2. Building citizen capacity/aspirations, and
  3. Ensuring inclusive access (Sabka Sath, Sabka Vikas).

Budget Estimates (BE 2026-27)

  • Non-debt Receipts: Rs.36.5 lakh crore; Total expenditure: Rs.53.5 lakh crore.
  • Centre’s Net Tax Receipts: Rs.28.7 lakh crore.
  • Gross Market Borrowings: Rs.17.2 lakh crore; Net market borrowings: Rs.11.7 lakh crore.

Revised Estimates (RE 2025-26)

  • Non-debt Receipts: Rs.34 lakh crore (Net tax: Rs.26.7 lakh crore).
  • Total Expenditure: Rs.49.6 lakh crore (Capex: ~Rs.11 lakh crore).

Fiscal Consolidation

  • Fiscal deficit is projected at 4.3% of GDP (BE 2026-27) ....
