Joint Rivers Commission
- The Joint Rivers Commission of India and Bangladesh was constituted in 1972 as a bilateral mechanism to address issues of mutual interest on common / border / trans-boundary Rivers.
- As per the treaty, the two nations established the commission to work for the common interests and sharing of water resources, irrigation, floods and cyclones control.
- The most successful achievement of JRC negotiation is the signing of treaty between the Bangladesh and the India on sharing of the Ganga/Ganges water at Farakka, commonly known as Ganges Water Sharing Treaty ....
