​Rani Abbakka: The Unyielding Guardian of Sovereignty and Justice

  • Portuguese discovered a sea route to this region and started building forts for defence and ports for trade.
  • Royal families of Tulunadu region followed matriarchal system.
  • Portuguese and Italian records provide information about two Abbakka queens who ruled Ullala from mid-16th century to the early 17th century identifying them as mother and daughter.
