World Bank Group Guarantee Platform
On 1st July, 2024, the World Bank Group (WBG) guarantee platform was opened for business.
Aim
- It aims to boost WBG annual guarantee issuance to $20 billion by 2030.
Need
- Currently the World Bank, International Finance Corporation (IFC), and the Multilateral Investment Guarantee Agency (MIGA) offer some 20 guarantee solutions.
- They all follow different processes and World Bank Group clients have to talk to each institution separately.
- This slows things down, impacting efficiency
