Way Forward
International Solar Alliance International Solar Alliance (ISA), a treaty-based international intergovernmental organization has become the bulwark of India’s action against climate change. The ISA is headquartered in Gurgaon, Haryana in India and is the joint initiative of Indian Prime Minister and President of France launched on sidelines of COP-21. The alliance aims at addressing obstacles faced due to large scale deployment of solar energy by better harmonization and aggregation of demand from solar rich countries lying fully or partially between the Tropic of Cancer and Tropic of Capricorn. The alliance aims to realize the dream of “One World, One Sun and One Grid” to ensure uninterrupted power supply. Programmes currently underway in ISA include Scaling Solar Applications for Agriculture Use, Affordable Finance at Scale, Scaling Solar Mini-grids, Scaling Solar Rooftops and Scaling Solar E-mobility and Storage. Common Risk Mitigating Mechanism (CRMM): It is a mechanism developed by ISA to de-risk and reduce the financial cost of solar projects in the ISA member countries. This instrument will help diversify and pool risks on mutual public resources and unlock significant investments. |
