Conclusion
India has made wide progress on various women developmental fronts like decreasing MMR, increasing literacy rate, ensuring higher education, etc. but it is still marred by poor women safety, declining sex ratio and women representation in parliament. Empowerment of women is linked with child development. An empowered woman is a healthy women, a healthy women bears a healthy child. Women need a safe and enabling environment which encourages their empowerment. An empowered woman is an informed woman, free from any form of dependence which ensures healthy choices. This could be achieved if we push for affirmative policies which bring women on a level playing field with others. Provided with the right opportunities, the potential of Indian women knows no bounds.
