Global Tuberculosis Report 2021

The Global TB Report 2021 published by WHO, provides a comprehensive and up-to-date assessment of the TB epidemic, and progress in the response, at global, regional and country levels. It features data on disease trends and the response to the epidemic in 202 countries and territories.

  • India contributed 41% to the global drop in the number of people newly diagnosed with TB and reported in 2020, compared with 2019.
  • India accounted for 38% of global TB deaths among HIV-negative people and for 34% of the combined total number of TB deaths in HIV-negative and HIV-positive people. Of the deaths among HIV-negative people, 53% were men, 32% were women and 16% were children (aged <15 years). Of the TB deaths among HIV-positive people, 50% were men, 40% were women and 9.8% were children.
