National Institution Ranking Framework (NIRF)

Ministry of Human Resource Development has been releasing Ranking System Framework for Higher Educational Institutions of India since 2016.

  • The National Institutional Ranking Framework (NIRF) has been launched to rank higher educational institutions in the country based on objective, verifiable criteria.
  • The ranking system is expected to promote excellence in education in a competitive environment. 5 broad and 16 micro parameters are used to gauge the performance of an institution.

As per NIRF 2021, IIT Madras is at 1st position among the Engineering colleges, and IIM Ahmedabad is at the top among the Management colleges.
