Possibilities and Prospects

Following measures can be taken to strengthen external security:

  • Security policy should be practically implementable. In formulating the policies, the past history of victory and defeat, as also lessons learnt should be studied and incorporated so that there are no gaps.
  • Adopt a practical strategic defence plan and military measures.
  • Maintain cordial relations with neighbouring countries, at regional level and international level.
  • Develop diplomatic and international pressure against our adversaries.
  • Devise India’s National Security Doctrine by giving heed to the following aspects -
    • A National security programme
    • A Strategic defence plan
    • Study probability of nuclear war
    • Understand neighbouring countries and their situation
  • National Security doctrine is bound to change with the changing international strategy and security environment. Thus, the national security doctrine should be based on current strategic international environment
