A fund namely ‘Rashtriya Rail Sanraksha Kosh’ (RRSK) has been created in 2017-18 with a corpus of Rs. 1 lakh crore over a period of five years for critical safety related works.
The details of works to be executed through Rashtriya Rail Sanraksha Kosh (RRSK) includes - Track works, Bridge rehabilitation, elimination of LC/ROB/RUB/Subways, Train Protection & Warning System, Train Collision Avoidance System, Coach Design & Maintenance, Diesel Locomotive maintenance, Replacement of over-aged traction distribution assets, Human Resource Development etc.
In 2020-21, provision of Rs.20,000 crore has been made, against which expenditure of approximately Rs.5,966 crore has been incurred till June, 2020.
