Street Light National Programme is an initiative of the Government to promote energy efficiency in the country.
Government aims to replace 3.5 crore conventional street lights with energy efficient LED lights. This programme has been launched on 5th January 2015 to convert conventional street and domestic lights with energy efficient LED lights.
As on December 2021, over 1.2 crore LED Street lights have been installed by EESL across India. This has resulted in estimated energy savings of 8.24 billion kWh per year with avoided peak demand of 1,374 MW and estimated GHG emission reduction of 5.68 million t CO2 per year.
