Ministry of Women and Child Development formulated UJJAWALA in 2007. Comprehensive Scheme for Prevention of Trafficking and Rescue, Rehabilitation and Re-integration of Victims of Trafficking and Commercial Sexual Exploitation

Objective of the Scheme

  • To prevent trafficking of women and children for commercial sexual exploitation through social mobilization and involvement of local communities, awareness generation programmes, generate public discourse through workshops/seminars and such events and any other innovative activity.

  • Trafficking of Persons (Prevention, Protection and Rehabilitation) Bill, 2018 was passed in Lok Sabha. It creates a law for investigation of all types of trafficking, and rescue, protection and rehabilitation of trafficked victims. It will further aid UJJAWALA.
