Current Affairs Questions
Q.Consider the following statements about Solar Cells:
- Maximum theoretical efficiency of solar cells is around 98%.
- Perovskite layer solar cells have efficiency close to 75%.
- Inkjet printing procedure of perovskite solar cells have lowered the production cost.
Which of the above statements is/are true?
(a) 1 and 2 only (b) 2 and 3 only
(c) 1, 2 and 3 (d) 3 only
Ans: (d)
Explanation
Maximum theoretical efficiency of solar cells is around 30-33% (as per Shockley-Quiesser Limit). Traditional solar cells have an efficiency of 18-20%, but perovskite layer solar cells have efficiency of around 25-27%.
